Workplace Civility Initiative

Workplace Civility Initiative

According to a landmark 2016 EEOC study, researchers found that incivility in the workplace can be a gateway drug to harassment and that traditional anti-harassment training is not enough. The EEOC task force recommended a more holistic approach that includes civility training.

As an employment law attorney, Employee Relations Consulting Founder and CEO Erica DyReyes spent years cleaning up the damage done by managers who lacked basic social and communication skills. She developed the Workplace Civility Initiative to empower managers to respectfully interact with employees and understand the impact of those interactions.

How This Program Is Different

Proactively training managers to lead with civility and promoting a civil work environment are core values of Employee Relations Consulting. Historically, anti-harassment training programs have focused on what not to do. Our Workplace Civility Initiative focuses on positive behaviors and communication skills that contribute to a civil, respectful work environment.
